Your explanation of “After death, one is in eternity and all events happen
in the eternal ‘now’” is not supported by the Bible.
The Bible clearly describes how long Jesus was in Hades/Sheol,therefore in
an FINITE period. The Bible didn’t say “ Jesus was in Hades for eternity
nor used your phrase eternal “now” to describe Jesus’ being in Hades. You
just made that up. Notice that the Bible plainly describes Jesus BEING IN
HADES three days and three nights just like Jonah who was in SHEOL (in
this case the belly of the huge fish) therefore not in “eternal now” nor
in eternity. Notice that the THREE days and three nights is the time
described that Jesus and Jonah spent in HADES/SHEOL.
Act 2:31 he foreseeing this spake of the resurrection of the Christ, that
neither was he left unto Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol; Neither wilt thou
suffer thy holy one to see corruption.
be killed, and on the third day be raised up.” (Luke 9:22)
Mat 12:40 - For just as Jo´nah was in the belly of the huge fish three
days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth
three days and three nights.
Jonah 2:2- Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, And thou heardest my voice.
Regarding Luke 23:43-
The explanation that I gave is very sensible to sensible people. As I
have said the reason why Jesus said “Truly I tell you today, You will be
with me in Paradise” is because the promise of “You will be with me in
paradise” was comforting and gave one of the evildoers hope. Jesus
preferred to tell one of the evildoers that promise “today”, at that
time, instead of waiting for the future where Jesus will say “you’ll be
with me in paradise”. Texts about paradise see Rev 2:7- To him that
conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise
of God. , See also Gen 3:22-24 (tree of life)
The phrases “I tell you TODAY or have told you today” and the usage of
the word Today . See examples.
2Ch 18:4 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel: 'Inquire, I pray
thee, at the word of the LORD today.'
Jer 42:21 - 21 And I tell (nagad) YOU today (yom), but YOU will certainly
not obey the voice of Jehovah YOUR God or anything with which he has sent
me to YOU.
NIV - Jer 42:21- I have told you today, but you still have not obeyed the
LORD your God in all he sent me to tell you

Moving away from the controversial issue of the trinity for now....
There seems to be varying opinions on why Jesus had to die in order for
sins to be forgiven. Did he die? If so
