Sure it can; the evening-mornings are the days in Genesis 1, which are
not normal 24 hour days but symbolic. For example the darkness
preceding the first appearance of light was of indefinite duration.
There was no sunset to mark its beginning, as the sun was not made
yet. So those "days" must be symbolic. Similarly the days in Dan 8:14
are symbolic, and to interpret them we need to look at two Old
Testament scriptures, where the phrase "day for a year" occurs:
Nu 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land,
even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities,
even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
Eze 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right
side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty
days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
If the 2,300 days were literal they would have expired before Babylon
was overthrown just a few short years after the vision was given to
Daniel, and it would have come to nothing.
Dan 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto
that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision
concerning the *constant*, and the transgression of desolation, to
give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred
days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
Since there is no start date mentioned for the 2,300 days, but the
angelic messenger says "unto 2,300 days", the period begins at the
very moment the words were spoken, about 550 BC, the third year of
Belshazzar (Dan 8:1).

Where does the bible refer to the time Christ was in the grave as
evening-mornings? I must have missed it.
